There are thousands of rose varieties. Having been domesticated, the queen of flowers is now found, intermixed and reinvented all over the world. And yet, you can count the number of species that perfumers use on one hand. The Damask rose reigns supreme among them and, though costly, it is central to the history of contemporary perfumery.
